Fast setup, decent performance

Got a new SSD VPS. Setup was fast. Performance is good for the cost. No issues so far.

Consistently good VPS

I've been using CloudCone for my VPS hosting for a while now, mostly for small dev projects. I picked up another Linux VPS last week, and it was the same smooth setup as always. The performance is reliable for the price point, and I like that I know what to expect. It's why I keep coming back.

Easy to get started

Needed a quick Windows VPS for testing some stuff, and CloudCone popped up. Signed up, picked a plan, and had it running in like ten minutes. No fuss, no weird hidden steps. It just worked, which is all I really wanted. Pretty happy with it.

Decent host for the money

I recently bought a Block Storage add-on for my existing VPS. The integration was pretty simple, and it attached without any major issues. Performance of the storage is acceptable for my needs, though I wouldn't call it blazing fast. Customer service was helpful when I had a question about billing, but their knowledge base could use some more detailed examples. It's good value, but don't expect enterprise-level support responsiveness.

Good value, some hiccups

I ordered a Scalable Cloud Compute instance last month for a new web app. The ordering process was straightforward on their site, and the instance was provisioned within minutes, which was great. Delivery was instant, as expected for cloud services. I did have a small issue configuring the private networking feature – documentation was a bit sparse there, and I ended up opening a support ticket. Support responded within a few hours and helped me sort it out. The compute quality itself is solid for the price; it handles traffic spikes well. Overall, it's a good choice if you're comfortable with a bit of self-service.

Love the hourly billing!

I got a Cloud VPS for a temporary project, and it was so easy! I only paid for the hours I used it, which saved me a ton of money. Setup was super quick. I'm definitely using CloudCone again for my next short-term server need!

Thinking of moving my small e-commerce site to CloudCone. Currently on shared hosting and need something more scalable. Anyone using their Cloud VPS for a similar setup? How's the performance and support?

A AmitM 1 week ago ✓ Best Answer
I host a few WordPress sites on their SC2 cloud compute instances. Performance is decent for the price, especially if you pick the right datacenter (LA is good). Support is generally responsive, but not fully managed unless you pay extra.

Yeah, their managed services cost extra. Worth it for critical stuff.

Which LA datacenter is best for India traffic? Any specific recommendations?

DDoS protection is by default right?

I moved my personal blog there from DigitalOcean last year. It's been solid, no complaints. Hourly billing is super flexible if you're experimenting. Just make sure to snapshot regularly, free backups are not really a thing.

Hourly billing sounds good. What about payment methods?

K Kiran 1 week ago
Snapshots for sure. Learned that the hard way once.

I'd say for e-commerce, make sure you configure it well, especially caching. They don't offer free managed support, so you're on your own for most server-side stuff. If you're not comfortable with Linux, it might be a steeper learning curve.

They have one-click apps for some things, but still need config.

Good point. I'm okay with basic Linux, but not an expert.

Just got my renewal invoice for my Linux VPS and the price jumped quite a bit. Was on a promo last year. Anyone else seeing this for their CloudCone renewals?

V Vikram87 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
You can sometimes open a ticket and ask if there are any loyalty discounts. Not guaranteed, but I've heard of people getting a small break. Worth a shot before migrating.

Good idea, will try that. Thanks!

Following this, interested to know if it works.

P PoojaR 1 month ago
Yeah, happened to me too with my SSD VPS. The initial discount was great, but the renewal is usually full price. I try to catch their Black Friday deals for new instances sometimes.

A AnkitJ 1 month ago
Same. I'm thinking of just spinning up a new one and migrating.

Does CloudCone offer renewal coupons at all? Or is it always full price after the first year?

S ShreyaK 1 month ago
I always buy annual to lock in a lower rate. The monthly can be steep if you're not careful. Also, keep an eye out for their flash sales.

Is the annual discount generally better than the Black Friday deals?
3
A Aakash 1 month ago
True, annual billing discount usually makes it cheaper.

Hey, thinking about grabbing one of their VPS deals, but I'm in New York. Anyone know if the performance is decent from the East Coast, or is everything super far away?

S Steve 2 months ago
They have data centers in Los Angeles, so it might be a bit of a ping for you. I'm on the west coast so it's fine for me.
4
M Mark 2 months ago
yeah it's all LA stuff as far as I know. if you need something closer you might want to check out vultr or linode, they have east coast locations.

Thinking of moving some stuff over, but I heard some hosts make it super hard to get your money back if things don't work out. Is CloudCone like that, or do they have a money-back guarantee?

M Mia J. 2 months ago
AFAIK, they don't have a traditional money-back guarantee for their hourly billed services. You only pay for what you use. If you add funds, those are usually non-refundable.
3
P Priya Okafor 2 months ago
nah, no money back guarantee really. since it's hourly, you just stop the service and you're not billed anymore. any credit you topped up usually stays as credit.

considering cloudcone but how does their support compare to like, digitalocean or vultr? had a bad experience with another budget host and want to avoid that again.

G Gwen N. 1 month ago
It's decent for the price point, but don't expect instant replies like you might get with premium support on DO. Usually get a response within a few hours to a day in my experience.
6
D Dan Vargas 1 month ago
yeah it's not bad. not as fast as like, linode, but better than racknerd for sure. depends on what your issue is too.

does cloudcone take paypal? i usually just use that for everything online, easier than digging out my card.

J James 1 month ago
Yeah they do. I paid for my last top-up with PayPal no problem.

Saw a promo code mentioned somewhere for 20% off. Does that apply forever, or is it just for the first month?

N Nina Vargas 2 months ago
Most of their promo codes are for recurring monthly fees, so it should keep applying as long as you have that service. Just make sure to read the fine print when you apply it during instance creation.
6
S Sophie M. 2 months ago
usually recurring! but sometimes they do credit bonuses instead of percentage off, so just double check what the code is for.

Are CloudCone's dedicated servers actually managed, or is it mostly 'here's your box, good luck' like some other budget hosts?

R Renee Reyes 2 months ago
They offer managed services, but it's usually an add-on or for specific plans. Don't expect it to be included by default on the cheapest ones. You'd have to check the specific server details.
5
N Nick D. 2 months ago
i think you gotta pay extra for management. the base ones are usually unmanaged unless it's like a special deal that says otherwise.
